In childhood, we yearn to be grown-ups. In old age, we yearn to be kids. It just seems that all would be wonderful if we didn’t have to celebrate our birthdays in chronological order.

So tomorrow is my birthday and I really do try for the whole ‘if I ignore it, it will go away’ and I try to make everyone I know subscribe to this creed but they tend to ignore me…
So today my truly fabulous work neighbours C&A brought a delicious lunch and chocolate cake (A doesn’t work on Wednesdays): it is wonderful how a little change in routine can brighten your day.

To alleviate the cake guilt/ anticipate the cake eating of tomorrow I went for a long walk. The Dee was full of people: my favourite of the many people I encountered were the middle aged couple laughing as the swung skywards on the play park swings… Age is a state of mind…
